Details in the Fabric---Jason Mraz

It’s really a beautiful song, and it’s the second song I listened of Jason Mraz. Every time I hear this song, an image will come in my mind. It’s a leisurely afternoon, I seat in a café where repeating this song over and over again. My seat is next to the window; the sunlight sprinkled on the table and warms my heart. I looked out the window lost in thought, a boy holding a guitar sing-song in the street with white shirt and charming smile. At that moment, the only feeling for me is relaxing. This lovely, slow and soft song calms me down; a kind of warm power filled my heart.
I love this song is because it’s simple melody. The form of this song is Ostinato Form. No fancy complicated incidental music and background music, the only instrument used in this song is the guitar. Plain simple guitar accompaniment made the rhythm with regularity and long durations. The meter is regular as well. The timbre is fundamental, and main part of the song is solo; his mature voice is the main melody of the whole song. While from 2’30’’ to 2’50’’ and 3’15’’ to 3’25’’ the James Morrison’s voice added in, the harmonic of these two individual voices is perfect. From 4’15’’ to 4’48’’ the mix of smooth rap and accompany singing bring the climax of this song.
If you feel lost, or your life is in mess, find an afternoon with sunshine. Escape from all the annoying things. Bring your ipod and listen this
again and again, you will find out a stream of warm power filled your heart. You will have strong confident that everything gonna be fine, and you will have a better life. There is no age, gender or nationality limit. Just try it, you will love it!

  1. Anqi, it must be a lovely song; I want to hear it. It's good to deal with a song for journals, but don't forget that journals should have at least 400 words. Your journal is sort of short this time. :P
