I still remember one scene clearly; although it’s not the main point the movie wants to tell us. In this scene, the heroines Grace made a decision that totally different with what I was thinking. This different decision makes me think about myself, maybe I was wrong sometimes. The decision is telling the truth, when her husband Sam comes back from Afghanistan with insecure feeling, and ask her what happen to her and his brother Tommy. She actually tells him that she did kiss with his brother, but that’s it. At that time, I was thinking:” Come! Don’t tell him. If you don’t tell him, and he will never know this. The truth will push your relationship to the end.” If I were her, I will never tell him, I will lie to him that nothing happened. This is kind of white lie in my mind. The truth could bring hurt; however telling a white lie can produce a better outcome. Of course I chose the lie. This kind of thinking of mine changed. Grace makes me realized that lies can never changes fact. If you love someone, you should trust them that they can understand you and your mistake. You should to believe the power of the truth. The ending of the movie prove this point of view. Sam trust her wife Grace and his brother Tommy, and tell them he killed his comrade-in-arms just for back to home.
It also recalling one sentence in mind that a lie begets a lie till they come to generation. It means if you telling a lie and you have to tell a string of lies for it. Don’t tell a lie, because it will make you uneasy. Trust the power of the truth!
