Legalize the Euthanasia

In recent years, a fervent discussion has been arisen on the legalization of euthanasia in many countries. Euthanasia (from the Greek ευθανασία meaning "good death") refers to the practice of ending a life in a painless manner. Whether mercy killing is justifiable is still an open question. Although many people against the euthanasia and laws in many countries don’t allow doctors to end the life of patients who do not even have chance to recover, I support the legalization of euthanasia for three reasons.

Firstly, euthanasia is a right, people have right to choose die with dignity. Patients who are in terminally ill are being kept alive by respiratory machine and feeding tuba lose their dignity. They cannot control their movement even life by their mind. All the things they can do in rest of life are lie on a bed and be at the mercy of others just like a puppet. They have to excrete body wastes and clean body with helping by others. This is kind of insult for them, and they lose all the dignity as a human being. In the Netherlands, according to an experienced doctor who has been implement the euthanasia for more than ten years, many people to euthanasia, safeguarding the dignity of their own play a very important role. They do not want people to see their loss of dignity in such a state. For the vegetable, its human dignity has been falling sharply, the fun of life has gone, and only leaving a body there to continue an insignificance life. With the highest value of human dignity, people have the right to chose how to live, and also including the right to chose end their life with dignity.

Additionally, euthanasia can really relieve suffers of the family in financial. The medical costs to maintain one’s life is very high. Firstly look at a set of data, China ICU (intensive care unit) in the treatment will cost about ranging from 2,000 RMB 5,000RMB per day; and highly critical of patients, their treatment costs can be up to a daily million RMB. To contain a life in vegetative state will cost more than 100,000 RMB, equivalent to 300-500 RMB per day. Such financial pressure can ruin any common family’s life in China.

On the other hand, euthanasia can relieve the pain of dying patients. Only the patient knows how much pain they got from the disease. When there is no hope to recover from the disease, put them to sleep is the best way to out of the suffering.

Legalization of euthanasia is necessary in modern society. It shows the great advances in human civilization, because it means people can face the death positively. Euthanasia can give dying people the right to die with dignity, relieve the family from financial pressure, and also can relieve the pain from patients. Legalize the euthanasia, and protect the right of people.
